National Citizen Service

National Citizen Service is a life changing experience for 16 and 17 year olds in Years 11 and 12.  It is available to students from all schools and colleges across England, regardless of their ability, interests or background. The programme engages young people in a number of different activities aimed at their personal and social development, giving them the skills and experience which will stand them in good stead for the future.

In short, the programme involves two residential weeks away from home, a non-residential week back in the local community, followed by a number of hours working on a social action project.  The programme aims to bring together students from all backgrounds and give them the opportunity to mix with those they would not normally mix with.  It will help them develop as positive members of society and to make the transition into adulthood by working with local organisations and community leaders to learn new skills and discover more about their area.  And it’s great fun!

By the end of the programme, these young people will have developed an abundance of new skills and experiences which they can add to their UCAS applications and CVs.

The cost of the programme is over £1,500 per person but as a Government initiative it is well funded and NCS are offering it for just £50.00. This includes; taster days, two residential weeks, accommodation, food, transport, training and a graduation event.  Bursaries are available so please do get in touch for more information.

NCS understand the importance and pressure of exams and therefore their programme does not interfere with your child’s studying over the next few months. If your child would like to take part in National Citizen Service, we would encourage them to sign-up as soon as possible as places are limited.
