English at Key Stage 3
English Literature, texts from different time periods and from other cultures. We also teach the key skills required for English Language GCSE exams including summarising, language analysis, evaluation, comparison of two texts and writing both creatively and persuasively.
Students work towards GCSE grades 1-9 by practising utilising the necessary skills. They are then tracked via reading and writing criteria to ensure they meet the requirements of the syllabus.
A selection of texts/topics studied at KS3 are as follows:
Year 7 – Journey’s End, stepping into Shakespeare, creative writing and writing and performing a speech.
Year 8 – Romeo and Juliet, Hound of the Baskervilles and Animal Farm.
