ICT
The ICT department provides our students with a wide ranging and balanced ICT and Computer Science experience. This supports the students in gaining Computer literacy, skills and understanding required for examination success. The work of the department is intended to encourage hard work and the use of Information Technology in a variety of contexts: school, home, community, recreation, business and industry. In these contexts, pupils are given opportunities to acquire competence, capability and critical skills through the implementation, use and evaluation of a range of Information Technology methods.
At KS3 we aim to provide a solid foundation in ICT covering a wide range of topics to ensure digital literacy at every age. This helps them become competent users of technology and prepares them for more advanced studies in ICT and computer science.
At KS4 we aim to deepen students' understanding of computer science by covering topics such as computer systems, networks, cyber security, software development, and ethical considerations in technology usage. The intent is to equip students with advanced skills and knowledge that are applicable in various industries and prepare them for further study at KS5 or for the workplace.
At KS5 we offer students the opportunity to experience different areas of ICT, such as software development, database management, network engineering, or web design. The curriculum focuses on developing high-level technical skills and promoting problem-solving, critical thinking, and creative thinking in real life scenarios through BTEC level 3 ICT.
