Please be aware that the Library is the Sixth Form bubble area and therefore only available to other students during their scheduled Year Bubble sessions. We are offering a click and deliver service for students and staff, the details of which are below.
Our Library is a welcoming environment in which to read, research and complete homework. There are computers available for students to access school sites and the internet.
From October 2020, the Library will operate a ‘click and deliver’ service. Please see the below video guide on how to reserve a book from the library catalogue. The user name to enter the school catalogue is merlin and the password is merlinTBS! We welcome reservations from students in any Year Group and books will be given to mentors to delivery in mentor time.
We have a wide range of fiction books including latest and popular titles, Carnegie Medal and Bucks Book Awards shortlisted books and well-known classic and modern authors. We are always looking to update and expand our selection of books and have set up an Amazon Wish List of requested titles. If you own and would like to donate any of the titles on our wish list, or if you would like to purchase a new or gently used book for the library, all donations will be gratefully received.
We have the Reading Well for Young People books available in the Library, which is a range of expert endorsed fiction, non-fiction and self-help books supporting young people’s mental health, with topics including ASD, anxiety, stress, OCD, bullying, body image and more.
The Library supports the English department with the inspirational Accelerated Reader Scheme in which the student’s progress is tracked and throughout the year there are awards for effort and improvement.
The Library celebrates World Book Day in March and past events have included author visits, book quizzes and competitions. The Library also regularly highlights key events such as Black History Month, Remembrance Day and National Poetry Day through book displays.
The Library’s Sway page is regularly updated and includes online book request and book review forms, up to date library news, reviews and competitions.
